Chapter Competition Information

Parking will be in Parking Lot #1, Parking is free.

                       

Registration

Check-in will be at the Yeager Center Main Lobby Patio at the northwest corner of the Yeager Center east of Parking Lot #1.  All coaches should be checking in for the students. All Volunteers should check in for their assignments. Coaches should pick up certificates for students and themselves.  Please check for spelling errors, make any corrections on certificates and give back to the Coordinator if corrections are needed.  All students, guests and coaches must remain in the Yeager Center Main Lobby Patio or adjacent courtyard until told otherwise (start of testing). 

 

Site Access

All students, guests and coaches are free to be outside the Yeager Center Main Lobby Patio or adjacent courtyard throughout the day.  Only students and Proctors are allowed in the Testing Rooms during testing.  All students, guests and coaches are allowed inside the A112 Yeager Classroom during the Countdown Round and Awards Ceremony.  Students and Coaches are not allowed inside the Grader’s Room at any time.  Once the Proctors dismiss the students from their rooms, they may go back to the Yeager Center Main Lobby Patio or adjacent courtyard for their breaks.

Campus Tours

California Baptist University will be providing a Guided Group Tour from (to be announced) for those students and/or parents who want to see the campus and residence hall. Group check in for the tour will begin at the Yeager Center Main Lobby.

Testing Format

An announcement will be made at around 9:15 am telling the students where to report for the Sprint Round.  The Proctor will lead them to the rooms.  The individuals will compete in B251 and B252 and the team members will compete in B218 and B219.  The procedures for each test will be presented by the Proctors.  Those individuals that would like to take the Team test can do so if they notify the Coordinator during registration, these will be for unofficial results only.  The individual competitors not taking the Team test will report back to the Yeager Center Main Lobby after the Target Round.  The Countdown Round is a fast-paced one-on-one competition. The Countdown Round will be in A112. If guests can only be at one part of the event, this is it.  The rules for the Countdown Round will be presented to the students and audience.  Please refer to the Mathcounts Handbook for rules.  The Coordinator will make all decisions affecting the results of the competition.

 

Food

Lunch will be located in the Alumni Dining Commons.  You can bring your own, if you want. Breakfast bars and juice will be provided for students. Bottled water will be available for students at Yeager Center Main Lobby. No food or drinks except bottled water will be allowed in the testing rooms. Lunch will be provided for all students at Alumni Dining Commons. Food and drinks are available for purchase at Alumni Dining Commons for Coaches, Volunteers and Guests.  Coaches and Guests that would like to drink coffee are encouraged to purchase it at Alumni Dining Commons, there are no coffee making facilities available in the Yeager Center Main Lobby.  Please provide a name and school associated with any guest or coaches.

 

Restrooms

Restrooms are available in each of the buildings.

 

Countdown Round

The Countdown Round will pit the top 16 individual scorers against each other in a “Sweet 16” format.  The students will be competing only for awards and prizes.  The results of the Countdown Round will not have an impact on advancement to State.  If a student declines to compete the next highest scorer will be allowed to compete.

 

Coach/Guest Activities

Visitors typically socialize, read a book or solve math problems while testing takes place.
